Tell us how you use TFS and MS Project client integration

If you use MS Project for scheduling and tracking the tasks in your projects, and round trip these work items to TFS using the MS Project client integration features, we want to hear from you.

We want to know how you use MS Project for planning, scheduling and updating the tasks and how the TFS V1 integration features are working for you.

Here are some specific questions that I would appreciate your thoughts on:

  • Binding the project plan bound to a query rather than a set of work item IDs (only option available in V1). For ex. if a new work item is added to the iteration, do you want to be able to see it automatically in the plan on a Refresh rather than manually importing it using Get work items? What are some other scenarios where you see a need for this?
  • Assigning a task to multiple resources in MS Project. Can you share some of the scenarios where you would want to do this?
  • Can you share some examples of summary tasks that you use in your plans? When would you not want to publish summary tasks to TFS and why?
  • How often do you change the Publish and Refresh field in the plan? Share some examples of why you would have Yes, No vs RefreshOnly.
  • What are some other features that you would like to see us work on in future releases? For ex. the ability to round trip hierarchical and dependency links between the tasks to TFS.

If you have any additional feedback on how this integration with Project client could be improved, please share it with us!
