System Center Catalog now on Pinpoint

You may or may not have noticed it yet, but the System Center Catalog has been transitioned over to Microsoft Pinpoint, which should be your first stop to find out about all the different management packs, connectors, extensions and applications available from Microsoft and its partners for System Center. Through Microsoft Pinpoint you can search for extensions and add-ons for Operations Manager, Configuration Manager, Data Protection Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, and Essentials, and the catalog will continue to be updated as new and updated solutions become available.

Modena RC2 Feature Complete released to Microsoft Connect

Modena focuses on “extending” some of the functionality already available in System Center Configuration Manager 2007’s OSD features. Developed internally at Microsoft as the first solution used to deploy 10,000+ Windows 7 images, the MPSD Engineering team is sharing it as one blueprint for your Windows 7 deployment. The Modena solution focuses on enabling user-driven upgrades for Windows 7 clients and with this release is feature complete. You can take Modena for a test-drive today utilizing all the features available by joining our Connect Program and downloading the RC2 bits.

SCCM and SQL Reporting Services

With the R2 release, SCCM now supports the use of SQL Reporting Services as a reporting solution. This will be the direction for reporting going forward and offers a good number of exciting possibilities for building impactful custom reports. In the January edition of Technet magazine I publish an article discussing this feature and showing a sample method for building custom reports - Create a Robust, Integrated Reporting Solution
