FrontPage, Office SharePoint Designer and Expression Web

As most people already know, Microsoft have discontinued FrontPage. The product has been replaced by Expression family of products. The direct replacement for FrontPage is Expression web.

However, customers that were using FrontPage to develop websites for SharePoint should renew their FrontPage licenses as Office SharePoint Designer. If you are not sure which of the two products you should choose, the information below should be of assistance:

· Use Office SharePoint Designer 2007 if you are a solution creator and content author working using SharePoint technologies. Office SharePoint Designer 2007 will enable information workers to develop applications and solutions on top of the SharePoint platform to enable organizational agility, business process automation, and get the full value of Microsoft Office applications on the SharePoint platform.

· Use Expression Web if you are a professional Web designer. It is a professional design tool to create sophisticated standards-based Web sites that deliver compelling user experiences. Expression Web is targeted at designers who are building broad reach HTML Web sites.

Functionally, Expression Web Designer and Office SharePoint Designer are very similar. However, it is important to purchase the correct product as customers with Expression Web Designer will be able to take advantage of offers to move to the Expression Suite of products, whereas customers with Office SharePoint Designer will not.

Please get in contact (using the link on the blog) if you think you may have purchased the wrong version of either product and we will see what we can do to resolve the situation.
