Installing from ISO files – handy utilities

I’ve replaced my DVD drive on my laptop with a second hard drive. This means I have enough room to keep a few virtual machines on my second drive, and I think they run better from a separate drive. The downside? On the rare occasions that I want to install or read from a CD or DVD I need to swap out the second drive and put the DVD back in. When I have .iso files then I would need to download the .iso (e.g. the 2010 RC), swap my DVD drive back into my machine, then burn the .iso to DVD, then use the newly created DVD and finally remove the DVD drive and put back my second disk drive. Since I am lazy, being able to run the .iso files directly from disk is very handy. This post explains easy ways to do just that. Good stuff.

Cheers,

Giles
