Now let's get to the interview questions...

Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?

Hej / Moi / Salut! I am Leon Laude (LinkedIn) born and raised in the archipelago on a small island in Finland. I moved to Stockholm, Sweden to work in February 2018.

I am a 30 years old half “Finnish-Swedish”, French guy, I currently work at Atea in Stockholm as a datacenter system consultant, with focus on Microsoft and System Center products.

I started my working career in the IT department of a Finnish bank (Aktia) back in 2012. My experience and skills lies within the datacenter infrastructure, such as hardware, servers, clients, Windows/Windows Server and System Center.

I’ve been interested in IT since my early childhood, and it’s still something I’m extremely dedicated to.

My personal interests is to be fit and healthy, I go often to the gym or go out running in the nature to clear my head.

I am an adventurous person, I love travelling and exploring the world, trying new things and seeing what the world has to offer me.

Since I was born and raised in the archipelago on a small island, I’ve always been very close to the nature. I like taking walks in the wild nature, and I especially love fishing. I’ve spent countless of hours fishing during my childhood, and I believe it’s something that has also taught me patience and in my career so far I have learned that patience is a big key to many things.

What are your big projects right now?

I have recently achieved my MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, the next certification steps will most likely be certifications within Azure in the coming future.

I write a blog (The System Center Blog), I created this blog with the intent to help out others out there. I have mainly created guides so far and will continue to do so, but I will also try to keep it as a source of information, regarding the System Center products.

What is TechNet Wiki for? Who is it for?

I see the TechNet Wiki as Microsoft’s own library, it’s an encyclopedia for Microsoft products that is aimed for just about anyone.

What is great is that anyone can write and share their knowledge there, it could be about a new feature/product, a guide or even a troubleshooting guide for a specific error.

What do you do with TechNet Wiki, and how does that fit into the rest of your job?

Whenever I need some information that I don’t know regarding any Microsoft product, I always check the TechNet Wiki first, as it’s a great source of information.

As I work mainly with Microsoft products the TechNet Wiki has become like an accessory for me.

What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?

The first thing that caught my attention was the quality of the content, it gives you the feeling that Microsoft professionals have written everything, while they have, but most content is actually written by non-Microsoft employees, which is great, it shows how many gurus/professionals there are out there!

I also get the feeling that this is a place where I can get help if I need it, whatever my problem might be, it’s a community that helps out each other and that gives feedback.

In what other sites and communities do you contribute your technical knowledge?

Apart from TechNet Wiki and my blog, I also contribute to my colleagues or my company’s forums. I am looking to contribute more and on more platforms in the future!

On what Wiki articles do you spend most of your time?

  1. DPM: Step-by-Step Guide: Performing a Bare Metal Recovery from Microsoft Azure
  2. Setting up an Azure Backup Vault registration with DPM 2016
  3. Orchestrator 1801: Installing SQL Server 2016 remotely
  4. System Center Orchestrator Step-by-Step Guide: Upgrade 2012 R2 to 1807
  5. SCOM 2016: Integrating with HPE OneView 4.0

Why are you spending so much time on TechNet Wiki?

I started contributing and helping in the TechNet Wiki / TechNet Community Forums back in April 2018, and I feel really great being able to share my knowledge and help to the people that might need it.

The feeling of helping out someone is just amazing, it’s what puts a smile on my face and it feeds me with positive vibes!

My Wiki articles are mainly guides, some are very long as they often are written as “step-by-step guides”, but I believe these are also needed.
There are many out there that don’t have a strong IT background and this is the main reason why I try to write them as clear and easy readable as possible.

Since I’ve been working as being a customer, and now working as a consultant in being the one delivering solutions/assistance to the customer(s), I have a better vision and understanding of what the customer needs are, therefore I write my guides based on this.

Some of my friends ask me, why I am putting so much time and effort on TechNet in general, it’s like working for free and getting nothing in return.

I don’t see it in that way, I feel that this world always and will always need every bit of help there is, but what’s in it for me?

Well for me seeing people getting their problems solved by my aid and getting a thanks is in return is worth a lot for me, this is more valuable than money or anything else, simple words like “thank you” have a lot of meaning.

I believe that if you are passionate about something, you should pursue it, no matter what anyone else thinks, and this is exactly how dreams can be achieved.
