Random folders being created with random names in drives in multiple machines. All of these folders contain a folder named "Sandbox" which is of 0 bytes size. Folders names are like "2bb7978c9fdb73488a75d158", "59d887c117eb4c256004". How to stop this from happening?

Hi!
Those folders are created by Windows Update as it tries to sort the updates., they are named like MD5/SHA1 of the Windows updates. For some strange reason they're not always deleted right away, but they will usually disappear within a day or two.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Leon

Hi Leon!
Despite of having a too much space in C: drive, Why these updates folders are not created in C: drive. These folders are not deleting automatically, there are couple of folders that created two months back and some folders are created in last year. A lot of people are facing this problem in their machines in the organization where I work.
Please help to get rid of this problem.

These are most likely leftovers from the installation process and it is safe to remove them.
However, just in case, I would first create a temporary directory on the same disk and move them into it. If no bad effects happen for several days, then they can be safely deleted.
If you get the "Access is Denied" error message even if you are the administrator, you will need to take control of these folders.

You could try the solution provided in the post above, if you are using SCCM.

Deleting these folders, this is what I am doing in some machines from few days. But this is not a proper solution. I don't know for how many days I have to do this. Even I can't ask all users to do this.
We do not use SCCM.
Thanks!

I understand this is frustrating and if you are in a company with plenty of users it's even more troublesome.
I'm afraid I don't know a way on how to automatically delete those folders as they are so different and could be located in different locations.
If the folders are identical on all computers and on the same location you could script this and delete it with the script.
