Question

I am having one strange issue:
SharePoint Site is showing Blank white page on Contribute, Edit, Full Control permissions (Except Read), in Read permission user is able to access and can see everything on SharePoint Site.
Nothing found in logs.
In developer tools, Network tab it's showing below three lines:
http://abc.com/sitename/Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx
/favicon.ico
http://abc.com/favicon.ico?RedirectFromIntranet=true
Randered page showing:
<html><head><META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <meta name="Robots" content="NOINDEX " /></head><body></body>
<script type="text/javascript">
var gearPage = document.getElementById('GearPage');
if(null != gearPage)
{
gearPage.parentNode.removeChild(gearPage);
document.title = "Error";
}
</script>
</html>
Anyone having any idea?

Hi,
Can you remove all controls from the page and check where is the issue? Probably you have not published the page which is the reason why Read permission user is shown previous version of the page
Right way to debug it is , remove everything from the page and add the component one at a time to identify on the issue

Amit

Thanks Amit, But issue is coming with other permissions except Read only.
Whenever we give contribute / Full Control permission, user is getting blank white screen.
Other users are able to access it without any issue, but it's happening with only one user.

Hi Amjad,
Thanks for your comment.
What i can understand for your suggested article, It's for blank page on SharePoint for everyone. Correct me if m wrong
But issue is coming with one user only whenever we provide the Write permission user is getting Blank white screen (In read permission user is able to access everything). Other users are able to access it without any issue with all permissions.
Also tested on other browsers and other machines but same issue for that particular user.
Thanks,
Mahi

Few pointers :
1. If its for a particular user, remove him & add him back to check
2. Please check any custom code is running on that page that restricts rendering on the page
3. Try reset the user's password and re-login in SP

Kailas

Hi Mahesh,
What was the last change done to the page? Is the page checked-in after that? It could be that page is not checked in so read only users are still able to access the old page. If that is the case, can you please undo the change and check?

1. If its for a particular user, remove him & add him back to check -> Tried :(
2. Please check any custom code is running on that page that restricts rendering on the page-> It's for all SP sites with Write permission.
3. Try reset the user's password and re-login in SP-> Tried :(

Is something changed on the master page recently? Can you temporarily switch to default master page and check if you are allowed to do so?

No nothing has been updated to Master Page and it's default one.

Hi Mahi,
For this issue, I recommend to check the permission of the user on the page which shows as blank page first.
And check if the user can access other pages in the site or other site collections.
In addition, please add the user as a site collection administrator and then check if the issue still occurs.

Victoria

Hi Mahi,
Basically issue may be for everyone, there might be difference of publishing of content,
This may be an obvious answer, but it could be that you need to specify the approval users under the Versioning settings.
Under General Settings of the list/library/page, click Versioning settings.
In the Draft Item Security section, under Who should see draft items in this list or under Who should see draft items in this document library, click the group of users whom you want to enable to view drafts. The option for users who can approve items is available only if your library requires content approval.
Click OK.
Source (also applicable for SharePoint 2010): http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/specify-who-can-view-drafts-HA010098643.aspx
Also, is there any customizations to SharePoint, such as javascript, css, features/solutions or custom masterpages?
EDIT: After a discussion, those users that are drafters, will have exclusive rights to the files and content they have checked out. No one else is allowed to see those drafts (even administrators) until the approval process is initiated through approval workflows, or otherwise checkedin for approval. Once the drafts have been checkin and submitted for approval, that's when it can be available for viewing.
Hope this help.

Amjad, but even though list and lib it self not visible, and for other users it's visible.
It's not draft or publishing content issue as per my knowledge.
Because in read permission how the user is able to view all the sites. but in contribute its not.

Hi Mahi,
This is very strange.
Let's recap the issue:
1. Only one user meets the issue.
2. The user can view all the sites with read permission, but with contribute he cannot.
3. Other users with contribute permission did not meet the issue.
4. The issue occur with the user when viewing all the site contents.
Could you please verify again that if read and contribute permission level has been changed or not? And add the user with issue as a site collection administrator to see what happens.

Victoria

1. Yes, only one user meets the issue as of now.
2. Yes, user can see everything under read permission, but as soon as gave write permission, screen goes blank.
3. Yes, other users can see everything under contribute permission.
4. Yes, issue is occurring with user only in write permissions on all sites, lists and lib's (Sometime user is able to access the site, but continuously coming white screen on Lists, lib's under write permission).

Hi Mahi,
For troubleshooting the issue, I need some screenshots:
1. Screenshots for the read, contribute and edit permission levels.
2. Screenshots for checking the user permission on the site permissions page.
Please remove the user with issue from the user information list and then re-assign the user with site collection administrator or contribute permission to see what happens.
Here is how to remove the user from user information list in the site:

but still issue is there.
And one more thing, issue is similar with below discussed issue:
Same log details are coming with us as shown in above issue.
We also tried by changing the calendar type, but nothing worked out for us.
