Question

Wednesday, December 7, 2016 7:28 PM

Hi all, please provide assistance if you are able to.

1)How to create a screensaver that display a website?

2)All our users do not sign on to a domain network so not able to use group policy to deploy to all machines.  How force 2000 machines in different part of the island to deploy the screensaver that display website without manual involvement?  How to force all machines to display this newly created screensaver?

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.  Thank you.

Hi ,

How to create a screensaver that display a website?
Are you trying to create your own screensaver?

Here is a link about customizing Screensaver in Windows 10 for your reference.

NOTE: This response contains a reference to a third party World Wide Web site. Microsoft is providing this information as a convenience to you. Microsoft does not control these sites and has not tested any software or information found on these sites.
If it does not meet your requirements, you may need install some third party application to implement it. Try search online.

And for your question about deploying screensaver, I am afraid that it does require domain joined machines. I have not found any other way to do it.

Best regards

Thanks for the reply.  Is there any settings on the registry that I can change to force machine to display only the screensaver I deploy?

Hi ,

Are you trying to prevent screensaver from being changed?
According to my research, when we change screensaver, the settings is saved in this registry entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\SCRNSAVE.EXE You could assign deny permission to this registry entry this to prevent user from changing screensaver.

Hi, I would require further assistance.

We have decided to force all the 2000 machines to display wallpaper and not to deploy screensaver.  There is a batch file created in 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\BatFile1.bat' to be executed for all users on each machines.

This is the code in BatFile1.bat which does not work correctly on some machines.

Scenario1:

1)BatFile1 overwrite values in wallpaper/registry editor succcessfully, the page1.jpg is found in "C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Page1.jpg"("hkcu\control panel\desktop).  However, the wallpaper is not replaced with Page1.jpg.  How to resolve?

Scenario2:

2)Value in wallpaper/registry editor is not replaced, it is showing 'C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\TranscodedWallpaper.jpg'.  How to replace the value in wallpaper/registry editor and forcing machine to display Page1.jpg only?
