Add Related Tables greyed out in SQL Server Management Studio

Question

Friday, October 4, 2013 5:38 PM

I'm new to MS SQL 2012 and Management Studio and I'm experiencing some difficulties with Database Diagrams whereby the Add Related Tables functionaility is greyed out, and I know there are indeed tables related to the one I have added to the diagram.....very frustrating. Does anybody know why the option would be greyed out?

Thanks

Jim

Ad Narsimha said, you need to have FKs defined for this option to be ungray.

I tried this and was able to add related tables. I know you've said that tables are related, but want to make sure they Foreign Key - Primary Key relationships ?

All of the tables have the same primary key - RECNUM.

I didn't get you said. They will need to have FK - PK relationships then only you'll be able to add as related tables.

For future searchers - it appears (at least for SSMS 2012) that the diagram has to have been saved at least once before Add Related Tables is available.
