Powerpivot - "some properties cannot be changed because this connection was modified using the powerpivot add-in"
Question

My company recently changed servers and I cannot change the connection string settings in Excel 2013 > Data>Connections. All boxes are greyed out and I get the message "some properties cannot be changed because this connection was modified using the powerpivot add-in". I can change the setting in > Existing Connections in Powerpivot however, I still cannot refresh.
I have read about other users that have had this issue. Are there ways around this as I don't want to re-create my data model as it will be labor intensive. I have tried switch the connection with VBA that I found on the internet however, had no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

Hi John,
Based on my research, this is a limitation in PowerPivot for Excel. For more information about this issue, see Updating OData connections in Excel for different PWA instances.
To work around this issue, please follow these steps below:
- Click the PowerPivot Tab.
- Click Manage button.
- In the Home pane, click Get External Data, and then click Existing Connections.
- Select the connection, and then select Edit.
- Change the Data Feed Url or click Advanced, and then edit it.
- Save the changes and then refresh the workbook.
Thanks,
