Hello
I have hosted a WCF service on IIS 7.5. The OS of the host machine is Windows 7.
My service url looks like this (I can not post the actual url)
http://localhost/VirtualDirectory/Servicename.svc When i am trying to browse this it gives me error saying
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.
I have no clue how to solve this error.
Please help me out.
Thanks in Advance.

1. From the IIS Management console, open a connection to the website.
2. In the Features View, double-click MIME Types.
3. In the Actions pane, click Add.
4. In the Add MIME Type dialog box, type a file name extension in the File Name Extension text box. For example, type .svc.
5. Type a MIME type in the MIME Type text box. For example, type application/octet-stream.
6. Click Ok.

Err. I thought when WCF is installed, the mimetype is registered with IIS ?

Hi WenJun Zhang I am having similar problem when I try to browse WCF service (.svc file) which is hosted in IIS7 & Windows7. I tried to run ServiceModelReg, but it say I should have admin rights in order to run this, although I am admin on this machine. It would be really great if you know to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance. Regards, Shailesh shailshukla@yahoo.com

Did you run the command prompt in elevated mode? runas administrator?
