Hi Team,

We have developed a web application and it is hosted in Azure server as a app service. Our back end SQL server is also in Azure.

While testing Page Load speed, The TTFB value is high.  TTFB : 1562 ms

Please find the break up in below and help us to reduce TTFB. Do we have any suggestion on Azure server configuration.

  • DNS 199.06 ms
  • Connect 99.69 ms
  • SSL 313.75 ms
  • Send 0.05 ms
  • Wait 949.22 ms
  • Receive 0.04 ms

This forum is for questions on Azure Stack, a Hybrid Cloud Platform. I am sending this question to the Web App forum for further assistance.

By default, web apps are unloaded if they are idle for a set period of time. This way, the system can conserve resources. The downside is that the response to the first request after the web app is unloaded is longer, to allow the web app to load and start serving responses. In Basic and Standard service plans, you can turn on the Always On setting to keep the app always loaded. This eliminates longer load times after the app is idle. To change the Always On setting:

  1. In the Azure portal, go to your web app.
  2. Select Application settings.
  3. For Always On, select On.

Kindly check to see if the above configuration helps. If the issue still persists, you may employ a similar approach as mentioned in the blog to tackle the performance issue on your app based on your application framework - How to speed up your WordPress site on Azure App.
