Exception: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX.DLL' or one of its dependencies.

Hi,

I'm referencing a 3rd party project within my C# project. This project that I'm referencing in turn references some dlls one of which is Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX.DLL.

When I run my project, I get the following exception:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3DX.DLL' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

None of the solutions suggested on other sites are working for me.  I cannot find the cause of this error. Please help.

The 3rd party library you are using uses directx, for performing saome 3d computations. Probably this component or part of it are not installed on your server.

Thanks for your response Francesco.

I have the dll for DirectX.Direct3DX (which I found in the references folder of the 3rd party project). Do I still have to install DirectX separately?

I installed DirectX on my machine and my issue has been resolved.
