Is there an Option to Disable Application Insights?

Question

Thursday, July 4, 2019 5:44 AM

Is there an option to Disable Application Insights and Azure Monitor during a planned Maintenance Window? Could not find one on the Azure Portal. What is the Microsoft recommendation to handle such a scenario (Maintenance Windows/Planned downtimes) with respect to App Insights and Azure Monitor?

Hi Vikram,

Yes, at the moment, there is no explicit facility provided to Disable Application Insights on a temporary basis.

However, you can provide feedback here if you want to see this feature in the future:

Thanks!

Thanks for your response - but the article shows ways to completely remove/uninstall Application Insights from an Application. The approach of using DEBUG Constants to disable Application Telemetry seems like a good option to be aware of but - this only eliminates the application from emitting telemetry to App Insights and not equate to disabling Application Insights on the Azure side.

Can we conclude that there is no facility provided to Disable Application Insights on a temporary basis currently?
