Hi zleug,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Before installing this tool, please check and update your Windows patches, temporarily disable the AV software and firewall.
>>0x80070643 - Fatal error during installation.
Usually, this error code means the resource installation packages missing or broken.
You could try to download it with an offline full installer, here are steps:
1. Download .Core.1.0.1-VS2015 Tools.Preview2.0.3 . exe from: Microsoft .NET Core 1.0.1 - VS 2015 Tooling Preview 2
2. Run DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3 .exe /layout in CMD as below:
3. After running this command, you should be prompted for the download location. Enter the location.
4. When the download finishes, the following dialog will pop up:
If there is any issue about the /layout offline installation, please feel free to let me know, you could use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. find vslogs.zip from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to Onedrive and share the link here. I will analyze the root cause according to the log.

Hi,
Is there any update about your issue?
Please refer to the threadhttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/38871877/errors-while-installing-vs2015-tools-for-net-core-1-0-development
Trying this from a command prompt:

Hi Lana. Thanks for replay.
I did step by step like previous post suggested:
- download DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3 application;
- temporary turn off Antivirus program;
- run DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3 application.
But unfortunately result the same like in my first post.
During installation I paid attention that every time when it reached to Processing: Microsoft NuGet - Visual Studio 2015 intallation interrupted with error message like in image on first post.
What to do to install DotNetCore.1.0.1 successful?
Thanks.

Hi zleug,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
In my VS 2015 Community with Update 3:
I just installed .Net Core Preview 2 and SDK from https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/core.
Here are my downloads from Control Panel:
Then launch VS to create a Web application template as below, the same as the MVC guide book:
After I installed the ASP.NET Core Template Pack , the template turn out as below:
Compare with the above screenshot, please check if you have installed both .Net Core.1.0.1VS2015 Tools.Preview and .Net core SDK well. Any problem persists, please feel free to let me know.

Hi zleug,
The Error 0x80070643 usually means that the install packages are broken, which indicates the failed installation of the .Net Core.1.0.1VS2015 Tools.Preview.
I suggest your try a /layout command to download full files of it, run the installer at command line with /layout
switch (like this one) and then you can generate an offline installation folder yourself.

Two questions:
- Do I need to uninstall failed .Net Core.1.0.1VS2015 Tools.Preview installation;
- In command prompt I should type:
DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe /layout and c:\... path where that file located.
Thanks.

Hi zleug,
I have reviewed all your post in our forum, find an interesting thing, seems that you tired to install VS, always with different issues: VS 2015 stop working, Asp.net templates missing, Net core preview tools install failure... And every time we offered you different solutions, you didn't come back last, so we couldn't know if you solved them successfully. On contrast, you keep asking these questions but no feedback lastly. I have noticed that your OS is Win 7, the root cause might be related to it, I suggest you could upgrade your OS more advanced, such as Win10, It will provide you clean and smooth way to install no matter VS or any other update, tools.

Hi zleug,
Are you sure that you test this question on the same machine as the original one?
The answer is pretty clear in my first reply, once you install .Net Core.1.0.1VS2015 Tools.Preview2.0.3 and sdk, the template will show the same as the Pro ASP.NET Core MVC .
Please figure out all the question and solution we offered by yourself.

Hi Lana.
Can you explain detail how to download full resource with switch /layout.
I did it by following way:
download **DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3
**and SDK dotnet-dev-win-x64.1.0.0-preview2-1-003177.exe filebased on that DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe file create shortcut
modified shortcut by add to Target switch /layout:
"C:\Users\DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe" /layoutdouble click shortcut to run. Result was successful.
rename Extensions folder in path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions. So when I ran to install **DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3 **many times it stop installation on the same place with the same error
When I renamed Extensions folder and run** DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe** I had successful installation
After installation .NET Core and SDK in Control Panel I have
Then I repair Visual Studio and got new Extensions folder
Reboot computer and you know what I have right now.
About Windows updates and patches. My company take care about Windows system. It has current update.
Thanks.

About this system problem situation, you had better use process monitor to catch which affect the installation running.
