Hi
As stated in the other posts there are a number of ways of acheiving this.
I would suggest that you have a look at the navigation options in the site settings for the parent site and then change the global navigation settings here. Just select the option to "display the same navigation items as the parent site".
Alternatively, you can use the breadcrumb option to navigate to the home site, this is found here.
Hope this helps

Its suggested to have a menu header link item for root site as the first item of every top link bar. If its not ther You can manually add it by opening site navigation settings.
You can also go to home site by clcking the small breadcrumb (yellow folder icon with gree up arrow) icon located next to site actions menu.

Hi
another way it's to customize your master page, and add a link to your main address. Attention: backup your work before!

Hi
Go to site settings of the subsite
If you have not activated the publishing features, then click on Top Link Bar and click on Use Links from Parent
If you have activated publishing features, click on navigation and select Display the same navigation items as the parent site in the Global navigation section.

Thanks for your help, I am familiar with the navigation folder but from the user end that folder might not be user friendly. But I think I have my top navigations under control untill the users complain.
