Is There Anyway To Add A Seperate Search Box To Edge?

Question

Sunday, October 14, 2018 9:36 PM

I wanted to look up information on a web site.  There doesn't seem to be a way to do that in Edge.  If you put the web site in the address box it launches it.

when I type "? saberman.com" in Edge or in Chrome, I seem to get the same as when I use the "search" box in IE.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I am sorry that I have a little misunderstanding of your requirement, did you mean that search for some information in a link, without launching the link?

Or other?

Or did you mean some functions like CTRL + F?

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

I want a separate search box like in IExplorer so I can search for information about a web site without launching it.  For example, I have a web site saberman.com.  If I type saberman.com into the search box on IE I get information about the web site.  If I type saberman.com into Edge it launches the web site.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have known about your requirement. However, I didn't find any solutions about this.

Maybe someone else will have some suggestions, and I suggest you contact the developer center. They could have some ideas.

Hi,

According to my understanding that when we type a web address, if the browser thinks it is a link, it will launch the web. And if not, it will search for information about the link.

Now, when I open the Bing searching tool first, and search the link, it will search for information about the link.

Hope this can help you.

I can also launch google.com to search.  The point is Edge seems to have a lot less functionality then IE and third party browsers.  Is there an add-in that provides a separate search box?

Was not aware of the use of "?".  Thanks.

In the IE search box no "?" is needed.

Now, how do I set Edge not to search unless a "?" is used?
