Windows 10 RDP with RemoteFX

Question

Friday, April 8, 2016 7:08 PM

Hi All,

I am looking to set up RDP with RemoteFX for my system Windows 10 Enterprise at home, I'll be connecting to this system from my work Windows 7 Enterprise Edition.

I just want to log directly into the machine with RemoteFX features I do not want to create a VM and connect to this. I want no VM's on the Home Machine.

I have looked at so many documents online including these forums and other sources however I've not found anyone doing exactly what I'm trying to do.

Is it possible and is there any decent documentation on how to get this running?

I have all Hyper-V Services installed, and have enabled RemoteFX for Windows Server 2008 R2 however when I run RDP and connect I'm viewing as a standard RDP connection which does not allow DirectX Applications to run.

Many Thanks

That was a post 6 months ago, I've never heard about any RemoteFX changes in Windows 10. Anything I've seen says it's not there, but of course I could be wrong!

Hi,

Windows 10 still support  serving RemoteFX. You can see this sample to configure:

No, it's not possible.  RemoteFX works via a special video adapter inside a

virtual machine, and since you don't have any virtual machines running, it

just can't work.  You also need to be running Windows Server to run virtual

machines capable of doing RemoteFX.  Windows 10 doesn't support serving

RemoteFX in virtual machines.

Doesn't this contradict the statement that Windows 10 doesn't support serving RemoteFX in VM's ?
