SCVMM Error 2912 with Unknown Error 0x80072f05

Question

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading and searching but I just really can't find any resolution of the error 2912 with unknown error 0x80072f05.

There was a recommendation to use VVMTrace but it seems the tool s already deprecated and I dont have idea also how to use it.

I have 4 new Hyper-V new and added them to existing cluster and no error during the addition.

It just that from SCVMM, every actions like scan, deploy patch, edit/create logical switch I always get the error.

Any Idea?

Hello,

Could you please first perform Cluster Validation to the cluster, and make sure the cluster is running correctly, especially the nodes have the correct configurations for the networking.

In addition, is this error specific to one of the nodes, or all nodes?

Could you please install most of the recent UR for the SCVMM server, and then try again?

Best regards,

Andy Liu

Hi Andy,

Thanks, installing latest UR is always part of the plan but it would be for last resort only (hard to explain). Its happening for all the new nodes (4 nodes), the cluster has existing 8 nodes and they are running well and no issues from SCVMM side. Can't perform validation as it has around 100+ VMs running. Performing validation would mean pausing all VMs and they are critical.

Regarding network configuration, I believed it was correctly configured.

Thanks,

Chouy

Chouy_Abbido,

Check your VMM server computer certificate. It probably expired and needs to be renewed - for details see http://adfordummiez.com/?p=499.

Certificate renewal process is documented at https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/4086006/renew-certificates-in-system-center-2012-r2-virtual-machine-manager.

Cheers,

Zoltan
