VS 2019 Community Edition and SSDT

    So on the download page it says their will no longer be a SSDT download as of VS 2019 and now you should download VS 109 Community, my question is does this override the licensing limitationsof community that you can't use it on the entrprise, or is this a new tax on SQL that you now have to by VS Pro or better just to do a schema compare or develop a cube for SQL Server?

Hi John,

same Problem here. Which VS 2019 should be used in a Company with many SSIS and SSRS developer? SSDT for VS 2017 and before got a standalone installer to get SSDT without any license cost. If we need to buy VS Licenses for each reportdesigner we wont be able to upgrade.

The Community Edition of Visual Studio 2019 allows you to use the above components without the restriction on number of users. For details around licensing, please refer to the EULA of Community Edition.

Great news, community never had that exception previously, i like the new servicing model of tools extension now that we got rid of the conflicting seperate installer/frameworks etc.

If you install Visual Studio Community, you must activate it within 30 days of installation. This requires an internet connection. How should we use VS Community 2019 as replacement of the SSDT Standalone Installer? Our Clients dont have internet connection.

SSIS is not ready, it seems. It is not available as a download today. 5 July 2019. Is this released, or not? I was able to use Connection Manager to download and install SSRS and SSAS, but SSIS was not available. It is sittiing in the Roaming area, but not able to be downloaded. Any news on this?

My best guess is the Visual Studio team probably got tired of dealing with the SSDT dev team and are trying everything they can to get rid of SSDT. After all it has only been a disaster for the last how many years now?
