Question

Hi All,
Last week, the SharePoint Server 2013 product key's custodian was not available and we had to start work on setting up SharePoint 2013 farms. We know that the our SharePoint Server 2013 is an Enterprise licence. So started to set up three SharePoint 2013 farms with downloaded on the SharePoint Server 2013 Trail version.
Now, we have original SharePoint Server 2013 and we went to the Central Administration >> Upgrade and Migration >> Convert Farm License Type >> and entered the product key and received this error.
This product key cannot be used to convert SharePoint Server Trial with Enterprise Client Access License to SharePoint Server with Enterprise Client Access License
We searched the following URLs:
http://www.superedge.net/2014/07/upgrading-sharepoint-2013-trial.html
We know that our SharePoint Server 2013 is indeed Enterprise licensed version but could not find any relevant issue that converts Trail to Enterprise.
Any suggestions as we have already set up three functional farms but with SharePoint Server 2013 trail.
Thanks in advance.
Sandy

Hi,
From the error message, it seems that it is not an available product key.
Microsoft is providing an Enterprise trial key (which is NQTMW-K63MQ-39G6H-B2CH9-FRDWJ), it's better to do a test.

If you have used the product key or the product key is not working, you can purchase a license and perform the upgrade on the SharePoint Central Administration itself. Below are the steps to upgrade from trial to licensed:

If in doubt, have a look at http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/ which should give you more information and the right contact persons at Microsoft.
