Setting a Library Folder to Expand by default

Question

Wednesday, January 4, 2012 4:43 PM

Hello everyone, first post!

I am working with my companies Sharepoint Server, and I am currently building a Wiki Library to host information about each of our distributors (Contact info, discounts, price lists, etc.). Each of the companies have 5 to 15 files a peice, between 2 folders. Folder 1, and Folder 2 are stored in a Root Folder titled with the company name. Like so:

> Company Folder

      > Folder 1

      > Folder 2

Essentially, when the company wiki page loads we see only the folders that apply to that specific company in the List webpart, however...

When I load the wiki page, I see my list web part, but Only the root folder. I need to click on the Root folder to open it to see the next 2.

MY QUESTION IS: Is there anyway to set the library to show only the 2 Folders inside the Root Folder by default?

I noticed that when I click the root folder, my URL adds a "?RootFolder=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" to the end of my current location.

Hi,

I have tried but could not configure the settings directly. However, as a workaround we can try to show all folders on the wiki library, and show a tree view of the folders on the left panel of the wiki page.

To show all the folders on the wiki library, try this:

1.            Go to you wiki library, click Modify view from the Library tab, then click Modify in SharePoint Designer (Advanced).

2.            In SharePoint Designer, under Options tab, you can see Folder scope in the Data group.

3.            Click Folder Scope and select Show All files and Subfolders of All Folders.

Also, change the metadata navigation settings.

1.            Go to your wiki library.

2.            Click Library settings from the Library tab.

3.            Under General Settings, click Metadata navigation settings.

4.           Add Folders and Content Type to the available hierarchy fields. Also, add Content type to Selected Key Filters Fields.

5.            Save the settings and go to your wiki library and you can see the tree view from the left panel.

Best Regards,
