Sharepoint LIst - Default Value in Multiple Line of Text with Enhanced Text Field

Question

Wednesday, June 12, 2019 7:25 PM

I'm trying to setup a purchase request list which once submitted will need to be approved.  However I would like to set a default value for the Multiple Line of Text with Enhanced Text Field with some table data but I have been unable to find any solution.

Though I would post here to see if anyone would know

This is what it looks like, I would like to have a default table in the items column "Part, Description, Qty Required, Cost, Comments" is there anyway to do that so that every time a new purchase req. is created the user doesn't have to create the table?  Also if there is anyway for the table grid lines to show, I clicked the option but it didn't work

Hi  rocksolidsr8,

You can use InfoPath to modify the properties of your form to complete your requirements.

1.Open InfoPath to connect to list that needs to be modified.

2. Modify field properties.

3. Add a default value

4.Publish it.

Best regards

Hi

You can set default value by javascript.

Create default html in javascript var, then response to textarea zone.

I tried what Itch Sun suggested but I get an error when I try to publish, also it doesn't look like that is a table, just a comma separated list.

And I am not sure how to setup the javascript if you have any more details on that I could give that a try

Hi  rocksolidsr8,

Make sure Infopath Form Services Feature is enabled.

There's a similar situation here:

https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/madhan/2015/09/16/the-publish-operation-could-not-be-completed-it-cannot-be-determined-if-the-form-template-was-successfully-published-while-publishing-infopath-form-to-sharepoint/

It's a workaround ,we can't set the default value of Multiple Line of Text to table form.

You can change the comma to ":" , this also makes it easy for your users to fill in information in the purchase request list

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards

Itch Sun
