how to configure authentication when NPS installed on RRAS Server

Question

Sunday, September 12, 2010 2:31 AM

I have successfully created a VPN server with NAP enforcement using 3 separate servers for AD, RRAS and NPS.

Now, I am currently working on consolidating 3 servers into 2 servers where RRAS and NPS installed on the same server. Here's the problem I've encountered, VPN client was not able to connect to vpn error 812. I tried to uninstalled RRAS and re-installed it. when I have to check the security of VPN using authentication PEAP, I've noticed an error icon saying "because network policy server is installed you must use it to  configure authentication and accounting providers. To configure authentication and accounting providers, create or modify connection request policies" .  so what I did is to go to the network policy on connection to microsoft routing and remote access server. Give grant access, set type of network access - VPN. Authentication method is set to PEAP. With all the configuration made but to no avail. Is there anyone out there had encountered the same problem as I am? what configuration did you do to make it working.

Thank you so much.

gotcha.. I was able to make it work. RRAS and NPS on a same server works for me. I just need to installed and configured RRAS first before installing NPS. By this, you can Manage VPN security and check the authentication method set to PEAP.  With grant access to microsoft routing and remote access server. you can now installed NPS after that's it

Happy NAPping....
