Question

For the past 2 hours I have been receiving the below error message when attempting to connect to my database. This has occurred in VS 2015, Management Studio 2016, and through my WebApp.

Database ‘XXXX' on server ‘YYYY' is not currently available.  Please retry the connection later.  If the problem persists, contact customer support, and provide them the session tracing ID of '{AE26FD63-20C1-4798-8E9F-C441569CBEC5}'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

Server Name: XXXX

Error Number: 40613

Severity: 20

State: 1

The status in my region (US East) seems to be fine, so I am unsure the next step, since the server was working fine yesterday and no security settings were changed on my end. Thank you.

As Dan said, open a support request immediately.  "Later" means a max of five minutes, if you need that database, if it's production maybe one minute.

Cameron,
As the error message indicates, the best way to address this issue if it persists, is to contact customer support; are you still seeing the issue?

FWIW I had a couple of "glitches" yesterday on a dev database, each time I changed service levels it glitched as expected, but then came back up, and I started using it, and five or ten minutes later it glitched again, for no apparent reason.  But in each case it also came right back within thirty seconds.
