Software update status unknown

Dear experts,

This question has confused me for sometime. I usually deploy software updates to a set of machine. I always get about 10% of unknown status reported back.

When I click into the deployment status, most of the clients just showing client check passed/Active. But confused why the clients don't erport back the status.

Can someone share some experience here? Thanks.

Hi,

Status unknown means either that the client system did not complete the software scan or the site server did not receive the scan status from the client system.

Based on your scenario, we can review wuahandler.log on the clients for more details. In addition, here is a link to troubleshoot software update issues

Check default Scan status reports, which will give you details status of scan failed machines,

I understand that this means that the client computer haven't report such status to server, but it keeps showing unknown for ever, anything wrong on client side? I haven't read the link yet, hope it can explain some for me.

Have you checked the client-side log as noted? Because this is the client's responsibility, until you troubleshoot the client, nothing can be said.
