1. Use an external hard drive or an USB of at least 4GB. Preferably 8 GB.
2. Create a folder and name it, i.e. ESD + ISO.
3. Copy the esd file to that folder.
4. Click this link ESD Decrypter tool here > download and save the zipped file to ESD+ISO folder.
5. Using the 7 Zip > right click at the downloaded zipped file > click Extract Here
6. Right click at Decrypt > click Run as Admin.
7. Type 2 > Enter.
That's it. You will have an iso in that folder.
It will look something like this...............
Please post back the result.

ESD files to me are Microsoft's Electronic Software Download application, so the files is uses whilst an in place upgrade is happening, so are they the files your mean? If so if the upgrade is complete they are no longer needed.
If not what are these ESD files? What are they associated with and what do they do? Where were they?

ESD Files for windows 10 1511. Windows ESD is essential to running dism for fixing corrupt windows files. Dism wont work unless the source file are specified. I have tried dism so many times always fails i have to point it towards the source esd fill to fix it. Or dism be to dumb to fix it on it own. There is a hundred reasons why one thing may not work. But what i have found and concluded is that ESD folder and files is essential to maintaining windows 10. With out these folder dism is useless. I fixed one my computers that had esd on it pointed it and wow look at the updates come in. It worked. I tried to copy the folder to another computer and it pretty crashed it. Have ESD folder is necessary because dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth will not work unless you add in the source of esd files or you wim but all of our computer where ESD Installed through the media creation tool. The only time i have got dism to do its job is when the computer has the esd and i can point to it. When people say its not needed it may not be. but you wont be able to fix the files with out.

You will need Windows 10 version 1511 iso file.
Unfortunately, Microsoft provides only Version 1607 iso file for download.
You might be able to find a site offering version 1511 iso file. It's not from Microsoft. Use it at your own risk.
What is stopping you from updating to the Anniversary version ?
Here is Windows Update history if you are interested :

zebra printers don't work with 1607, which we need. Version 1607 is still buggy we have a a couple in production that we are testing. Features we don't need. 1511 was the best version. never had a problem with it. worked like a champ. the only time we had a problem with 1511 was kb 3176493 which was the main cause of printer and zebra printers. We cant just adpot a brand new version of windows for 6 months, that how we have set up. trying to give Microsoft more time to fix up 1607 before we are forced to move on.

Just curious.........
Have you tried uninstall printers > reinstall same printers ?
Monday, September 26, 2016 6:18 PM
yes, it was the actual update kb3176394 for 1511. But for 1607 i couldnt find it. I concluded they took that update rolled into 1607. therefore i can remove it. I still trying to figure out how i can make ESD From a computer that lost theirs. There should be a tool i can run for i can use esd. with out the esd all my advances recovery options is useless. Since they relay on the esd as their source files.

The 2 versions do not share the same updates.
I cannot help you with the version 1511 esd files.
Sorry.

Questions :
1. How many computers you have that are running the SAME Win 10 Edition ( Home or Pro ) with the same language and bit-version as the one that is missing the esd file ?
2. If you have more than one, does the other computer have the esd file still present ?
If answer to Q#2 is yes, then you can use that esd file > convert it to an iso file and you can then use it to do the dism.

70 computers about half with missing ESD. The other computer have esd. So if i run esd decrypt tool then i can insert that iso image into the network drive then. or a usb drive i be able to use that iso with dism on computers with out the esd files to repair them with dism.

Yes. As long as that iso is the same build 1511, same edition ( Home or Pro ), same language and same bit version as the computer you want to fix corruption.

A follow-up post.
What is your current status ?
Are you able to convert the esd to iso ?
Does the iso work for dism command operation ?
