There are no components in DLL that can be placed on toolbox

Question

Friday, June 7, 2019 11:28 AM

Hello
I have installed Visual Studio 2017 and everything is fine until I try to add a tool to my toolbox. For example, I tried installing Crystal Reports. The installation was successful and all the files were there but there was no crystal report viewer in the toolbox. I have also tried to add other DLLs to the toolbox but I get confronted with the error message "There are no components in DLL that can be placed on toolbox". I have two computers. A laptop and a desktop computer

Everything is OK on my laptop but DLLs don't work on my desktop computer.
I would be glad if you could help me.

Thanks

Hi Amiraghaei,

Sorry for delay in reply.

According to your description, it seems that the crystal reports tool is not added into toolbox normally. Please follow below steps to add it:

#1 right-click white area in tools box, then select "choose items"

#2 select the "Crystal Report Viewer". Please check if the assembly name match your type of project. Such as my project is winform.

#3 click "OK"

Also you could add the other dlls by "Browse..." , OR drag the dll into toolbox directory.

If the issue persists, please open visual studio installer as administrator to repair visual studio, then restart your machine.

Hope they would work for you, and any feedback will be expected.

Best Regards,

Dylan
