Outlook 2013 Troubleshooting: Unable to see Presence Indicator

Issue: Unable to see Presence Indicator in Outlook 2013.

Problem Statement: Recently received query, Where user unable to see Presence Indicator in Outlook.

There are many things behind it, like if user address book is corrupted then it will not show presence information correctly in Lync. However for Outlook presence Indicator will show all the time until and unless you remove display option from Outlook.

Resolution:

Follow the below steps in order to resolve issue.

  1. Open Outlook 2013 > Click on 'File' > Select 'Option' > Click on 'People'
  2. Check Mark both Options:
    1. Display online status next to name.
    2. Show User photographs when available (Requires restarting Outlook).
  3. Click on ‘OK’.
  4. Close the Outlook and Restart.
  5. Now open the Outlook and open new email see the presence indicator.
