Windows 10: How to Turn Off Microsoft Consumer Experiences

 

Introduction

Windows 10 automatically installs apps like Candy Crush Soda Saga ,FarmVille 2 ,Flipboard, Twitter, Photoshop Express, Minecraft, etc, on a new Windows 10 installation. Starting with Windows 10, version 1607,in Windows 10 Education and Windows 10 Enterprise there is a group policy setting called Microsoft Consumer Experiences,through this policy one can easily enable or disable these apps.

Group Policy Setting

  • In Start Search type gpedit.msc and hit the Enter key.
  • This will open Local Group Policy Editor.
  • Now move to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Cloud Content.
  • Select Turn off Microsoft consumer experiences.
  • Right click it and select Edit.
  • Now if you enable this policy then users will no longer see personalized recommendations from Microsoft and notifications about their Microsoft account.
  • Sign out
  • Reboot.
