Language and region support for the Bing Web Search API

Warning

On October 30, 2020, the Bing Search APIs moved from Azure AI services to Bing Search Services. This documentation is provided for reference only. For updated documentation, see the Bing search API documentation. For instructions on creating new Azure resources for Bing search, see Create a Bing Search resource through the Azure Marketplace.

The Bing Web Search API supports over three dozen countries or regions, many with more than one language. Specifying a country or region with a query helps refine search results based on that country or regions interests. The results may include links to Bing, and these links may localize the Bing user experience according to the specified country/region or language.

You can specify a country or region using the cc query parameter. When a country or region is specified, you must specify one or more language codes with the Accept-Language header. Use the Markets table for a list of languages supported in each market.

Alternatively, you can specify the market with the mkt query parameter, and a code from the Markets table. Specifying a market simultaneously specifies a country or region and a preferred language. You can explicitly set the language with the setLang query parameter.
