We're excited to announce the July 2026 version of Azure Database for PostgreSQL. Starting July 1, 2026, the service automatically onboards all new servers to this latest version. The service upgrades existing servers during their next scheduled maintenance.
This new version introduces a range of new features and enhancements, resolves known issues, and includes essential security patches to ensure optimal performance and security.

- Added support for the RDKit extension on PostgreSQL 14–18, enabling advanced cheminformatics and molecular data analysis capabilities.
- Added support for the pg_pointcloud extension on PostgreSQL 14–18, enabling efficient storage and analysis of point cloud data.
- Added support for the plpgsql_check extension on PostgreSQL 14–18, providing static analysis and validation for PL/pgSQL code.
Improvements
- Delivered multiple security fixes and hardening improvements to enhance platform security and reliability.
- Updated the pg_failover_slots extension to version 1.2.1, improving logical replication slot failover and synchronization behavior.
