Flexport
Flexport helps users search logistics reference data, track and browse shipments, review quote requests and pricing, request rates, and create freight bookings.
This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Once connected, your agent discovers the available Flexport tools automatically and can call them on your behalf using natural language — looking up shipments, checking rates, searching your network, and booking freight — instead of REST calls.

Prerequisites
- MCP access enabled for your organization by a Flexport account admin at app.flexport.com/integrations/mcp-connection (Business Profile → Integrations → MCP Connection).
- An active Flexport account with a role that grants access to the tools you need — see Permissions.
Authentication
Sign in with your Flexport account using OAuth 2.0. No API key is needed. Every tool call runs as you and is scoped to your Flexport role — a coworker connecting the same server sees the same tools, but a tool call fails with a permission error if your role doesn't allow it. See Permissions.

You can view and revoke your own connections at any time from User Settings → MCP Connections in Flexport.
Supported tools
Tools are published by the server and discovered dynamically. The current set:
Track and browse shipments
- Track shipment (
track_shipment) — Search for a Flexport shipment by FLEX-ID, name, or client-assigned tag, with full tracking detail. - Browse shipments (
browse_shipments) — Browse Flexport-managed shipments matching status, mode, date range, task, or demurrage/detention filters, paginated.
Get rates and book freight
- Search instant prices (
rates_search_instant_price) — Search available instant-price freight rates for Ocean FCL, Ocean LCL, or Air shipments. - Evaluate total price (
rates_evaluate_total_price_from_instant_price_search) — Get the full, live-evaluated price breakdown for a rate selected from a prior instant-price search. - Book an instant price (
rates_instant_book) — Instantly create a real, binding booking against a prior instant-price search result or a known client rate identifier. - Book without a rate (
rates_book_without_rate) — Create and submit an unrated supplier booking for consignee acceptance. - Request a rate (
rates_request_rate) — Request a new rate quote for a lane when instant pricing has no acceptable option. - Browse quote requests (
rates_browse_quote_requests) — Find or browse your organization's rate quote requests by name, FLEX-ID, status, freight mode, origin/destination, or submitter. - Get quote request details (
rates_get_quote_request_details) — Get a quote request's submission details and every priced quote option it received. - Get quote details (
rates_get_quote_details) — Get one quote option's complete transit, route, and itemized rate detail.
Search your network and reference data
- Search ports (
network_search_ports) — Search Flexport's sea and air ports by name, city, UN/LOCODE, IATA code, ICAO code, or customs port code. - Search HS codes (
network_search_hs_codes) — Search Flexport's six-digit international HS-code catalog by product description or code. - Search company entities (
network_search_company_entities) — Search active Flexport company entities in your network by legal name. - Search addresses (
network_search_addresses) — Search addresses already onboarded in your Flexport network, by name, street, city, state, or company legal name. - Search Google addresses (
network_search_google_addresses) — Search Google Places for cities, postal codes, and general place matches not yet onboarded in your Flexport network.
Account
- List active company users (
list_active_company_users) — List or search active users in your company, including yourself.
The booking tools (rates_instant_book, rates_book_without_rate) and rates_request_rate
create real business records that cannot be undone from within the agent; they are marked
destructive in their MCP tool annotations so agents can ask for confirmation first.
Permissions
A tool is only callable if your Flexport client-account role is one of the roles it allows.

| Admin | Full account administrator — can view and act on all shipment data, and additionally manage the account's users and billing. |
| Billing | Can manage the account's billing information. Cannot manage users. |
| Member | Standard account user — can view and edit shipment and order data. Cannot manage users or billing. |
| Analyst | Read-only equivalent of Member — sees what a Member sees, but cannot edit or delete. |
| Tracker | Most restricted role — read-only access to a narrower subset, primarily shipment tracking and visibility. |

Known issues and limitations
- Requests are rate limited to approximately 60 per minute per signed-in user, and 300 per minute per Flexport customer account. Exceeding the limit returns an error; retry after a short wait.
- The tool list is the same for everyone at your company. Whether a specific tool call succeeds depends on your Flexport role — see Permissions. A "permission denied" error means your role doesn't allow that tool, not that something is broken.
- Only the MCP Streamable HTTP transport is supported. The deprecated SSE transport is not.
- Tools operate on the Flexport account you signed in with. To work with a different account, create a separate connection with that account.
Common errors and remedies
| Problem | What to do |

| "MCP has not been enabled for your organization" | A Flexport account admin must enable it at Business Profile → Integrations → MCP Connection. If the admin can't find that page, contact your dedicated Flexport account team. |
| A tool call fails with a permission error | The tool list is the same for everyone at your company; calling it is what's scoped to your Flexport role — see Permissions. Ask your account admin about your role. |
| A tool returns "invalid input" | The agent sent a field with a missing or wrongly typed value. Rephrase the request with the specific IDs or values the tool description asks for. |
| Authentication error after a long idle period | The connection's tokens have expired. Sign in again to refresh the connection. |
| Error telling you to contact your Flexport account team | Access for your organization has been paused. Contact your dedicated Flexport account team. |
