MCT Instructional Skills Overview
MCT candidates must prove that they possess the instructional skills needed to deliver engaging, world-class training experiences to our learners.
- New candidates applying to the MCT Program must verify their instructional skills by completing an MCT Onboarding course offered by Microsoft.
- Once you become a qualified MCT, you will not be required to submit proof of instructional skills for your annual MCT renewal process.
Instructional Skills for MCT candidates
To acquire verified proof of instructional skills, new MCT candidates must complete an MCT Onboarding experience through Microsoft. Microsoft does not accept facilitation or instructional skills course completions from other entities. The process is as follows:
- Find and register for an upcoming MCT Onboarding experience in the MCT Portal.
- Earn a qualifying certification. Starting 1-July-2026, only AB-730 or AB-731 will be accepted to meet this requirement.
- Attend and successfully complete the MCT Onboarding course.
- This completion, combined with your qualifying Microsoft certification, will allow you to apply to become an MCT.
- If your MCT application is submitted before completing MCT Onboarding, your application will be rejected and you will be required to reapply to the MCT Program.
Currently, the MCT Onboarding Experience is only available in the English language. As such, some legacy ISCPs have been permitted to offer courseware in languages other than English. For prospective MCTs whose primary mode of instruction is in a language other than English, please email us at mctprog@microsoft.com, and let us know your language requirements. We will share the name of a provider you can work with.
Instructional Skills for Microsoft FTEs
Microsoft full-time employees (FTEs) must complete the MCT Onboarding Experience course through internal channels such as the EETS program or the Microsoft Garage. If you would like more information on this, please email us at mctprog@microsoft.com.
