Enable system DNS resolution outside of the network service
Supported versions
- Windows: Not supported
- macOS: Not supported
- Android: ≥ 158
- iOS: Not supported
Description
This policy controls where system DNS resolution (getaddrinfo()) runs.
If you enable this policy, system DNS resolution may run outside of the network process, depending on system configuration and feature flags.
If you disable this policy, system DNS resolution runs in the network process instead of the browser process. In some configurations, this may require disabling the network service sandbox, which can reduce the security of Microsoft Edge.
If you don't configure this policy, the location where system DNS resolution runs is determined by system configuration and feature flags. DNS resolution may run inside the network service, outside of it, or partially in both locations.
