Remarks

The path parameters are exposed as ITaskItem rather than DirectoryInfo/ FileInfo so that .NET Framework MSBuild can reflect over this task's parameters when dispatching it to the .NET task host. That inspection resolves parameter types through a MetadataLoadContext in which the only available core assembly is .NET Framework's, whose System.Runtime facade does not forward FileInfo or DirectoryInfo.
