Project '<projectname>' cannot generate a reference to file '<filename>'. You may need to delete and re-add this reference, then do a full rebuild of the solution.

An error occurred when creating a reference to a file.

Error ID: BC31514

To correct this error

  1. Remove the reference by right-clicking the item from Project References in the Solution Explorer and clicking Remove.

  2. Restore the reference by right clicking References in the Solution Explorer and then clicking Add Reference.
