Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 is the latest release of Microsoft Dynamics AX. This download includes a full installation of the product and should be used for all new installations and upgrades from previous versions.
This release supports upgrades from Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 (Service Pack 2 or higher), Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009, Microsoft Dynamics AX Retail 2009, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack.

Overview
Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 is the third consecutive release of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, and is generally available as of December 1, 2012. This page includes product download links and links to resources that help you install, upgrade and learn about this release. There are a number of new features and enhancements included in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2.
For all audiences:
- Make the most of opportunities in emerging markets, and simplify international, cross-company business processes and data sharing and IT infrastructure: (1) Support compliance with country/region-specific (financial) regulations in 11 (new) countries/regions including emerging markets China, Japan, Brazil, Russia, and India, (2) streamline cross company business processes and improve management of the IT infrastructure with a single instance deployment of all 36 localizations, and (3) share and isolate company-specific business processes and data with data partitioning.
- Empower enterprise workers to propel the business forward through pervasive Business Intelligence (BI), providing contextual and RoleTailored insights to help all people within the enterprise to make informed decisions in an ever changing business environment. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 also uses the Business Intelligence capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server including PowerView to provide advanced visualization and ad-hoc analysis.
- Drive Human Resources impact with US Payroll, position control and budgeting, benefits eligibility, and Talent Management enhancements.
- Simplify application life cycle management with a centralized set of tools and services to optimize every phase of the application life cycle from learning and designing the system to deploying, maintaining, and upgrading.

- Empower public-sector organizations with enhanced budgeting, planning, and forecasting functionality to streamline budget driven processes.
- Maximize opportunities with omni-channel support, next generation Point of Sale, and integrated e-commerce for organizations with retail operations.
