This article describes how to create a chart of accounts in a hierarchy tree structure by setting up multiple levels for ledger accounts in China with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance.

The following procedure shows how to create a chart of accounts in a hierarchy tree structure by setting up multiple levels for ledger accounts. The procedure uses the demo data company CNMF.

To create a chart of accounts in a hierarchy tree structure, follow these steps:

1. In Dynamics 365 Finance, go to General ledger > Chart of accounts > Accounts > Chart of accounts.
2. Select New.
3. In the Charts of accounts field, enter a value.
4. Select Hierarchy setup.
5. In the Maximum level field, enter a number.
6. Select New.
7. In the Length field, enter a number.
8. In the Level field, enter a number.
9. In the Name field, enter a value.
10. Select New.
11. In the Length field, enter a number.
12. In the Level field, enter a number. Repeat the previous three steps to create another account number formats as necessary.
13. Select Save.
14. Close the page.
15. Select New.
16. In the Account name field, enter a value.
17. In the Ledger account field, enter a value.
18. In the Account type field, select an option.
19. Select OK.
20. Select New.
21. In the Account name field, enter a value.
22. Select OK. Repeat the last three steps to create another sub accounts, as necessary.
23. Select Save.
