Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Service Update 252 Release Notes

Service Update 252 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 9.1.0 is now available. This article describes the hotfixes and updates that are included in Service Update 252.


Note: Service Update naming convention has been revised to clarify the link between the version number and Service Update number. For example, Service Update 150 will now correspond to version number 150xx. Occasionally a Service Update will be canceled and all associated fixes will be rolled into a subsequent Service Update. For this reason, Service Update numbers may not always increase incrementally.

To determine whether your organization had this update applied, check your Microsoft Dynamics 365 version number. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner, and then click About.

An (*) at the end of a fix statement denotes that this repair item was incorporated into multiple service update releases.

Service Update 252 resolves the following issues:

Repaired Functionality

The following list details issues whose resolutions repair items in Dynamics that are not functioning.


  • Narrator had not read the label name of the status message in the 'Case title' field.*
  • The keyboard focus did not respond correctly when navigating through the New Email signature screen pop up.
  • In high contrast mode, focus was not applied to the "Retain your check out after checking in?" spin button when attempting to check in a document.
  • The screen reader did not narrate the required information alert when a default price listing was not set.
  • Improved the user experience for users using languages that read right to left.*
  • Low density form headers did load properly in the mobile app.
  • A duplicate entity name was created when applying a filter that contained two clear buttons.
  • While in scan mode, the accessibility screen reader did not announce the name of a table when ‘T’ was pressed.
  • Narrator did not read multiple status messages from form notifications.
  • The screen reader did not narrate the correct Name and State for check boxes present in table data.*
  • The screen reader did not identify the name, role and state of a row selection header.

Knowledge Management

  • All text content or data within angle brackets in the Timeline were removed from the Unified Interface.*
  • Search highlighting did not remain in the Timeline after refreshing or applying a filter.
  • When performing a keyword search the Timeline scrolled from its original position.
  • When modifying the notes description within a record and saving the edits, the user interface did not reflect the changes.*
  • Text search highlighting did not remain after performing certain actions within the Timeline.


  • The App for Outlook dashboard was not available to select as Default at Sitemap editor and at the web client grid.*

Platform Services

  • Security role permissions settings were not applied during solution upgrades of managed solutions.*
  • Meeting invites and reminder alerts were sent out for meetings created in the past.*
  • When updating an entity within a contact record, an empty form field resulted in empty audit logs and inaccurate history.
  • Duplicate records had been created in the Audit log entities with the same details.
  • Emails arriving in the Exchange inbox were not synced to Dynamics 365.*
  • When performing a solution import, deleted records were remained because they were not labeled for removal.*
  • When performing an audit, logs could not be deleted in the Unified Interface.
  • The “Insert Knowledge Article” button was not displayed when creating a new email.


  • When selecting "Reply" or "Reply All" from an email in the timeline, no email pop out was displayed.
  • Emails could not be created directly from the timeline.*
  • When selecting "Reply" or "Reply All" from an email in the timeline, no email pop out was displayed.
  • An extra space appeared before the colon in Assistant Studio resources.


  • The “Resource Requirement Work Hours” window did load when modifying a calendar.*
  • When inserting a template into an email, a pop up window provided instructions to cancel and manually save the template instead of automatically adding the attachment.

Unified Interface

  • Business rules, set for multiple fields, did not apply apply to all selected fields.
  • The duplicate detection dialog did not display within the UCI.
  • Form Designer Preview had crashed when loading.*
  • Records did not display when loading the Home Page Grid with Editable Grid Instance.*
  • When using the entity editor to create a custom entity while using Internet Explorer, the entity was not saved and synchronized in Outlook.*
  • In Internet Explorer 11, the user interface contained misaligned page elements when using a Quick Create form in an account entity.
  • The Flow step button did not render long text labels correctly.
  • Linked form as a component did not separate columns on the mobile.
  • On mobile devices in offline mode, accounts details were not present in the Bookings section after performing an offline data synchronization.*
  • Map control was incorrectly displaying an offline message while online.
  • In Outlook on the web, command bar options did not display when selecting an email quick create form.*

Error Messages, Exceptions, and Failures

The following list details issues whose resolutions correct actions that produce errors, unhandled exceptions, or system or component failures.

Knowledge Management

  • An error occurred when selecting Teams, Business Unit or Queue controls within cases.
  • An error occurred when attempting to load an entity or the dashboard timeline.

Platform Services

  • An error occurred when an entity request contained a filter on the date field.*
  • An error occurred when approving a mailbox in the Exchange app while using the Exchange Administrator role.*
  • An error occurred when adding a new field value to a quick form for an opportunity entity.
  • An error occurred when adding a column to search under index management.*
  • An error occurred when importing a translation from an unmanaged solution.*
  • An error occurred when attempting to set a record contact as a primary contact of an account record.
  • An error occurred when creating a team or group within a project.*
  • An error would occur during navigation to the "Next Page" while viewing Related Activities of a Contact record.


  • An incorrect warning message would display when closing an email activity when no modifications had been made.

Unified Interface

  • An error occurred when opening a record or refreshing the page for a record.*
  • Within the Project Service, an error occurred when loading the Estimates tab in a new project.*
  • An error occurred when refreshing the browser when an item had been opened in the subgrid.*
  • An error occurred when adding additional columns to an entity view.*
  • An error occurred during Business Process Flows when attempting to create a new service request from phone call activity.*
  • An error occurred when creating a new case and using a lookup menu for country selection.*
