Delete or deactivate segments
Sometimes, you might want to get rid of segments that are no longer relevant or useful for your sales team's activities. You have two options to do this in Dynamics 365 Sales Hub:
- Deactivate a segment to keep it in the app but stop it from connecting to any new records. The records that were already connected to the segment remain connected. You can reactivate the segment later if you need it again.
- Delete a segment to remove it from the app completely. The records that were already connected to the segment in a sequence aren't affected. You can't undo this action.
Segments and assignment rules are part of the work assignment feature. Work assignment is available in sales accelerator version 9.1.23074.10021 and is rolling out in phases in different regions. Learn more about work assignment.

Deactivate or delete a segment
Sign in to your Dynamics 365 Sales Hub app.
In the lower-left corner of the page, select Change area > Sales Insights settings.
Under Sales accelerator, select Work assignment.
Select a Record type to view the segments of that type.
Hover over the segment and select More options (⋮).
To keep the segment but make it inactive, select Deactivate.
To remove the segment entirely, select Delete.
Confirm the action when you're prompted to do so.
Can't find the options in your app?
There are three possibilities:
- You don't have the necessary license or role. Check the License and role requirements section at the top of this page.
- Your administrator hasn't turned on the feature.
- Your organization is using a custom app. Check with your administrator for exact steps. The steps described in this article are specific to the out-of-the-box Sales Hub and Sales Professional apps.
