Follow these steps to create a new beginning balance journal.

  1. Click Project management and accounting > Journals > Beginning balance.

Click Project management and accounting > Common > Projects > All projects. On the Action Pane, on the Project tab, in the Set up group, click Beginning balances.

  2. In the Beginning balance journal form, on the menu bar, click New.

  3. On the Overview tab, in the Name field, select a journal name that is a beginning type.

  4. On the menu bar, click Lines.

  5. In the Journal lines for beginning balances form, on the FastTab for the type of line that you want to create, click Add.

  6. Fill in the relevant transactions, fees, or on-account fields, and then click OK.

  7. To post the journal, click Post on the menu bar in the Journal lines for beginning balances form or in the Beginning balance journal form.

If you created the beginning balance from the Projects form, you can view a transaction form that shows the line for the beginning balance transaction. In the Projects form, on the Action Pane, on the Maintain tab, in the New group, click Transactions, and then select the transaction type that you selected when you created lines for the beginning balance journal.

Most of the information for the journal is inherited from the journal name. However, you can enter other settings for journal description, voucher and posting settings, and blocking.
