  1. Click Project management and accounting > Journals. Then click the name of the type of journal that you want to create:

    • Hour

    • Expense

    • Item

    • Fee

    Note

For information about how to create a beginning balance journal, see Create a project beginning balance.

  2. On the menu bar, click New.

  3. In the Name field, select the name of a journal type.

    Note

The journal type that you select provides the sequence for the journal number, together with the default values for most of the other settings in the journal.

  4. If you do not want to use the default settings for the journal, make changes on the appropriate tabs.

    Tip

You can enter predefined journal descriptions in the Description field by using a shortcut key. Transaction texts are defined in the Journal descriptions form.

  5. Create one or more lines for the journal.

For information about how to create journal lines, see Create lines in journals for projects.

  6. When the journal is ready to post, click Post.
