Microsoft Dynamics AX relies on an installation of Microsoft SQL Server.

In addition to standard relational database functionality, Microsoft Dynamics AX features enable you to do the following:

  • View historical data by using cubes.

  • View current data by creating reports.

  • Have the system track data relationships per time span with the valid time state feature.

  • Simplify joins by having tables inherit from other tables.

  • Cache the tables and records for faster performance.
