Item quality groups (form)

Click Inventory management > Setup > Quality control > Item quality groups.
Use this form to set up, edit, and view the items that are assigned to a quality group or the quality groups that are assigned to an item.
A quality group represents common testing requirements for items. After the test requirements have been defined in the Test groups form, the rules for automatically generating quality orders can be defined. The rules are defined for a quality group by using the Quality associations form instead of for individual items. The use of quality groups simplifies the definition of rules for automatically generating quality orders.
The Item quality groups form can also be accessed for a selected quality group, to assign relevant items, or for a selected item, to assign relevant quality groups.
To access the Item quality groups form for a selected quality group, do the following:
- Click Inventory management > Setup > Quality control > Quality groups. Select a quality group, click Setup, and then select Item quality groups.
To access the Item quality groups form for a selected item, do the following:
- Click Product information management > Common > Released products. Double-click an item to open the Released product details form, and then on the Action Pane, on the Manage inventory tab, click Item quality groups.
Example
A manufacturing company purchases a variety of raw materials that have the same testing requirements for incoming inspection. The company defines a quality group and assigns the item numbers that are associated with the raw materials to the quality group.
Later, the company purchases a new type of raw material that has the same testing requirements. Instead of setting up new testing requirements for the new material, the company adds the item number for the material to the existing quality group.
The same manufacturing company also produces items that have the same production testing requirements and ships items that have the same requirement for performing preshipment tests. The company defines two additional quality groups and assigns the relevant item numbers to each quality group.
