The information that you enter for the length of ownership in the Fixed assets provision types form affects the ledger account to which the profits that result from the sale of an asset are posted.

When the number of months that the fixed asset has been owned equals or exceeds the value in the Length of ownership field, the profits from the sale of the fixed asset are posted to the main account that is defined for the Provision for reserve transaction type in the Fixed asset posting profiles form.

When the number of months that the fixed asset has been owned is less than the value in the Length of ownership field, the profits from the sale of the fixed asset are posted to the main account that is defined for the Disposal - sale transaction type in the Fixed asset posting profiles form.
