Coding with kids: Cultivating the next generation of developers through play

Children learn differently from adults. Passively listening for long periods of time is hard for them. They prefer hands-on activities and want to have control over how they playfully discover new things. As parents, mentors, and teachers, we have to take that into account when we want to introduce kids to the fascinating world of coding. Rainer Stropek is long-time co-founder, chairman, and mentor at Austria’s largest CoderDojo, a volunteer-driven, free programming club for kids.
