Create deviceCategory

Create a new deviceCategory object.

This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Global service US Government L4 US Government L5 (DOD) China operated by 21Vianet


One of the following permissions is required to call this API. To learn more, including how to choose permissions, see Permissions.

Delegated (work or school account)

Delegated (personal Microsoft account) Not supported.

Request body

In the request body, supply a JSON representation for the deviceCategory object.

The following table shows the properties that are required when you create the deviceCategory.

Property Type Description
id String Unique identifier for the device category. Read-only.
description String Optional description for the device category.
displayName String Display name for the device category.


If successful, this method returns a 201 Created response code and a deviceCategory object in the response body.
