Create governanceRequest

Namespace: microsoft.graph

Create a new governanceRequest to establish a governance relationship with a governed tenant. The governed tenant can then accept or reject the request.

Permissions

Choose the permission or permissions marked as least privileged for this API. Use a higher privileged permission or permissions only if your app requires it. For details about delegated and application permissions, see Permission types. To learn more about these permissions, see the permissions reference.

Important

For delegated access using work or school accounts, the signed-in user must be assigned a supported Microsoft Entra role. The following least privileged roles are supported for this operation.

  • Tenant Governance Administrator
  • Tenant Governance Relationship Administrator

Name Description

Content-Type application/json. Required.

Request body

In the request body, supply a JSON representation of the microsoft.graph.governanceRequest object.

You can specify the following properties when creating a governanceRequest.

Property Type Description
governedTenantId String The Microsoft Entra tenant ID of the governed tenant. Required.
tenantGovernancePolicyTemplate@odata.bind microsoft.graph.tenantGovernancePolicyTemplate Provide the governance policy template ID that is used to generate the policySnapshot. Required.

Response

If successful, this method returns a 201 Created response code and a microsoft.graph.governanceRequest object in the response body.
