After an in-place upgrade from HIS 2016 to HIS 2020, if the configuration tool isn't allowed to open at the end of setup, then the services may fail to start. Many of the services require the correct versions of the Visual C++ Runtime DLLs. These DLLs are installed by the configuration tool when it first starts. To fix this issue, open the Start menu, and open the configuration tool.
Unattended Installation
Install using the following command:
Output
msiexec /i HIS2020_Server_EN.msi /quiet
A setup log is written to the %temp% folder.
To confirm the installation, go to \Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server, and confirm the HIS files are there.
Uninstall using the following command:
Output
msiexec /x HIS2020_Server_EN.msi /quiet
A setup log is written to the %temp% folder.
To confirm the uninstallation, go to \Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server, and confirm the HIS files are removed.
The config file can be created by running the Configuration Wizard as a UI program. Run ConfigurationWizard.exe with no parameters, or run Configuration under the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2020 programs list.
